Common name:Bitsy Daylily
Botanical name:Hemerocallis 'Bitsy'

This dependable perennial has thin, strap-like, grass-like leaves reaching 12"-18" tall. Bright yellow flowers, resembling lilies, are high above the foliage, making the overall height of this plant at 24" tall. Blooms appear in spring through fall, thus making this Hemerocallis variety very popular. It needs regular watering and more during hot summer months. It prefers full sun or light shade and will tolerate seaside conditions.

Sago Palm resembles small palms; it is evergreen. It can slowly grow to 10'. It is used for a tropical effect and also looks great in planters. In the low desert, light shade and additional moisture are best. Side sprouts can form multi-trunked individuals. Apply fertilizer at leaf expansion. This plant has few pests.

Deodar Cedar

This fast-growing, coniferous evergreen is capable of reaching a size of 80' high by 40' wide. Its needles are a light, silvery green color, 2" long. Flowers are inconspicuous. Barrel shaped cones appear in fall and winter. Branches are pendulous and spreadings. Plant in area that has ample room for growth.

Japanese Black Pine

Botanical name:Pinus thunbergii

This variety of pine is both rigid and twisted, reaching 12'-20' tall and 10' wide. It has an irregular shape, and the short, contorted branches eventually produce a canopy-shaped tree. Bright green needles are 4" long. New foliage, called candles, are white colored. Cones are oval shaped and brown, about 3" long. This is a great tree for an outdoor Christmas tree or for bonsai. It needs full sun and a moderate amount of water.

Anthony Waterer Spirea

'Anthony Waterer' is a deciduous shrub that usually grows to 2'-5' tall. New foliage is bronzy red, changing to deep green. In summer, deep pink flowers cluster at the branch ends. This plant tolerates full sun but needs afternoon shade in warm, inland valleys. It prefers moderate watering and well draining soil.

Bright yellow standards and brighter purplish-magenta falls. Vigorous and captivating! It blooms in spring and again in fall. It reaches 3' tall. Plant in full or part sun. It needs a medium amount of watering.

Japanese Boxwood is often used as a hedge. It is compact, with small bright green leaves. It can reach 4-6' tall and wide or be kept smaller through pruninig. It can be sheared to shape. It does better in areas with milder winters. It prefers full sun and a moderate amount of water.
